What is Tru64?

Tru64 Unix is what is more commonly refered to as a grace account. The operating system that runs on the server grace is Compaq's Tru64 Unix. This is where a users mail and web pages are stored, although it is neither the mail or web server.

What are deferred tasks?

Deffered tasks allow you to use CLAWS more quickly and efficiently, and allow you to automate tasks for execution in the future.

How do I create a new account for someone already in student/staff records?

  1. Click on the New Account link in the navigation frame.
  2. Enter identity information.
  3. Select correct identity.
  4. Fill in account information, and submit.

How do I view/modify an existing account?

  1. Click on the Manage Account link in the navigation menu.
  2. Type the username directly at the top, or use the second part of the page to search for the user.
  3. Select View/Modify and submit the form.
  4. Modify the fields to reflect the user's new information.
  5. Click MODIFY to save the changes.

How do I disable/re-activate an account?

  1. See how to view/modify an existing account above.
  2. Change the Account Status to Disabled or Active.
  3. Click MODIFY

Why can't I make any changes to restricted accounts?

Only operators with the highest security clearance are allowed to modify accounts marked as restricted. To make changes to a restricted account, a request must be sent to System Support.

What are the 'Accounts' check boxes at the bottom?

During account creation/modification you can chose to omit performing an operation on some systems. It is highly recommened to NOT skip any systems. These check boxes allow the recovery of half-created accounts in case there was an error during a previous operation.

What is a special account?

A special account is made for people who need temporary access but are not registered. Normal accounts are deleted periodically if they are not registered. A special account requires an expiration date.

How do I delete an account?

  1. Click on the Manage Account link the the navigation frame.
  2. Type the username directly at the top, or use the second part of the page to search for the user.
  3. Select Delete and submit the form.
  4. Click Yes if you really want to delete that user.


How do I create a template for use in operator management?

An operator template is created like any other operator, but with a special name. The template name must end with .template Examples are:

  FullAccess.template 
  ReadOnly.template 
  Modify.template
