Modifying Accounts

In this section, you are presented with a few ways to view account information. The first methid is a quick jump to a username, the second is a RIT ID search and the last is a full search. In order to modify an existing account, you must first preform an account search. This will bring you to the account edit screen.

Username Search

For the first method, type in a username, select whether you want to view, modify, or delete the account and click submit. If you chose view/modify, CLAWS will bring you to the view/modify form. The view/modify form is described below. If you chose delete, CLAWS will bring you to the confirmation form also described below.

RIT ID Search

The second method is to search for a RIT ID through LDAP. Since LDAP is the only place we store a RIT ID, this is the only way to do this search. Simply input the RIT ID with no dashes, and click find.

Account Search

The last method of finding an account is by searching through LDAP. If the user does not have an LDAP entry, then it will not appear in the search. First choose what field to search. Your options are name, email, username, home page, title, phone number, or all fields. Second, choose what type of search. Contains will match anywhere in the field, Is will only match exact fields, and Sounds like will find accounts that are near what you searched. Next, choose what types of accounts to search. You can select everyone or just students or just faculty and staff.

When you click Find, a list of matching accounts are displayed. Their name, email address, and phone number are shown along with the same options as above.

View Modify Form

Most of the options are the same as the New Account Form with a few exceptions.

Password now has a button above it marked Generate. Clicking this will generate a new random password for the user.

When you are done making changes to the account, click Modify. You will be brought to the user account form showing the updated information. This is your only chance to print out a new password if you changed it as other attempts to retrieve it return (IN DCE).
